Devoted wife of Loki
 
Sigyn (whose name roughly translates to “victorious girlfriend”) is Loki’s wife among the Æsir and the model of devotion and compassion. As punishment for tricking Höðr into killing his brother Baldr, Loki is bound to a rock by the gods with a large serpent suspended above his head that drips venom onto his face. So great is Sigyn’s devotion, that she sits beside her husband in his torment with a bowl to catch the venom and will continue to do so until the coming of Ragnarök.
