Briani and I are engaged in an ongoing effort to build and arm the Great Hall of the Solberg-Bell family, partly for our own enjoyment, partly to honor our ancestors, and partly in memory of our only child Dashiell Edwin Tillman Solberg-Bell, taken from us in 2016. In it is everything of substance that we intended for him to inherit -- the arms of an armiger, granted in letters-patent by the hand of a foreign power, whose blazon and images reside in heraldic repositories around the world; fully-functional and deadly arms and armor such as his ancestors once bore, crowding every wall; evocative and spiritually meaningful art; and the Hall and its land itself, suitable for a gentleman of his rank.
