God of Poetry
Best of poets, Bragi is husband to Idun and skald to the Æsir gods in Valhöll. Listed as god of poetry in the Poetic Edda, it is widely suspected by scholars that he is a later deification of the first known skald, Bragi Boddason, who composed poetry in the ninth century for the legendary Swedish king, Beli. If this is the case, Bragi was mythologized within a century of his death.
