Muninn is one of Odin's twin ravens. He, along with his brother, Huggin, is sent out each morning to fly around the nine worlds and bring back the news of the day to Odin.
Whereas “Huginn” is perched on a helmet as a nod to the meaning of his name (“thought”), “Muninn” (“memory”) is perched on a runestone that reads, “I whisper secrets in the ear of Odin.” The inscription, translated into Old Norse by Old Norse language expert Dr. Jackson Crawford, is rendered in Younger Futhark and accompanied by a carved image of the twin ravens on either side of Odin’s head.
Captured in mid "caw" with a curious twist to his head, "Muninn" appears to be in conversation when placed side-by-side with his twin. The second of two matching sculptures, when presented together "Huginnn" and Muninn" beautifully represent these best of birds.
"Muninn" is a free-standing sculpture produced in cold-cast bronze with a stone finished base. It weighs 8 pounds and measures 12.5 inches tall, 14 inches long (beak to tail), and 7 inches wide, making it the perfect size for display on a mantle, desk, altar, or shelf. Each piece is hand-signed by the artist and comes with a brass plate attached underneath the base indicating the edition number. It also comes with a signed storycard that explains the story behind the sculpture.
