Mini Myth Collection® - Frigg
Highest goddess of the Æsir
Frigg (“beloved”) is the wife of Oðin and the goddess highest among the Æsir. She is mother to Baldr and Höðr as well as stepmother to a number of gods including Thor. Frigg is a völva (seeress) who can foresee the future through her use of seiðr (magic). Most modern scholars believe that Frigg and Freyja originated from the same Proto-Germanic goddess (Frija) but they diverged into two nominally distinct characters during the Viking Age.
