Mini Myth Collection® - Eirikr Blodox
In life, Eirikr Haraldsson (known as "Eirik Bllodaxe") was briefly King of Norway and twice King of Northumbria. Upon his death in 954, Gunnhild (his wife), commission the skaldic poem Eiriksmal. It is a conversation between Odin and Bragi as they prepare Valholl for Eirikr's arrival whereupon he is to be inducted into the ranks of the Einherjar, the army of the fallen warriors who will fight beside Odin at the battle of Ragnarok.
