The Mini Myth Collection® - Freyr
God of prosperity & virility
Freyr is son to Njord (of the Vanir) and brother to Freyja (goddess of love, fertility, war and magic). He is most closely associated with male virility, human prosperity and has his hall in Alfheim (the land of the elves) over which he is thought to preside.
Freyr is also known for several magical possessions including Skíðblaðnir (the largest ship in Midgard, it can be folded down until it is small enough to fit in his pocket); Gullinbursti ("Golden Bristles," is a golden war boar that Freyr rides into battle); and a dancing sword whose name has been lost to history but was thought to be the only weapon in existence that could have defeated Surtr at Ragnorak. Unfortunately for all, Freyr gave his sword away as payment to his servant in exchange for the hand of Gerd, a giantess with whom he fell madly in love. Without his sword, he would often fight with nothing but an antler.
I have depicted Freyr with his ship and antler. Gullinbursti is available as a separate figure (MMN18.9) and his servant (to whom Freyr gave his magic sword) will likewise be available as a separate figure.
