"As each curtain drops, another rises."
I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween. Never missing an opportunity to ham it up, I dressed up like a pirate and, as all good pirates do on festive occasions, I enjoyed myself thoroughly.
I’d like to start by properly bringing the curtain down on a couple of productions in which I was recently involved. First, I bid a fond farewell to the cast of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, staged by The Hartland Players, in which I portrayed Brick Pollit. The show closed three weeks ago and it was one of the best theatrical experiences I have ever had as an actor.
Second, I offer one last round of applause for the cast of the Marquis Theatre’s Annabella Broom, which took their final bow Halloween morning. Every standing-room-only performance you gave was a testament to the quality of your work, and it was a pleasure to be your director!
Moving on to a production on which the curtain will soon rise… we are now in our last two weeks of rehearsals for The Jungle Book, the latest show I am directing for the Marquis Theatre in Northville. The production is an original adaptation of the famous Rudyard Kipling story of the little boy raised by wolves in the jungles of India. It is scheduled to run for 57 performances from November 14, 2007 through January 26, 2008. Rumor has it that in addition to directing the show, I will also be taking the stage for select performances to portray the villainous tiger, Shere Khan. To see the show, reserve your tickets in advance by calling the Marquis box office at (248) 349-8110 or simply buy them at the door and let them know the director sent you. I hope to see you there!
Creatively yours,
Aric
