
BASIC DRAWING: Drawing begins with learning to observe and then interpreting what you see (or imagine). This program is designed to demystify the act of drawing and teach the basic skills needed to communicate visually. NOTE: Students will need to purchase a small amount of basic art materials. INTERMEDIATE DRAWING: Developing drawing skills allows for more effective communication, the dynamic expression of ideas and the manifestation of the imagination. This program focuses on sharpening basic drawing skills and teaches important techniques including shading, perspective, color and composition. NOTE: Students will need to purchase basic art materials. Average readiness level: Age 14 and up (see policies for more age information)
DESIGN/ART DIRECTION: Apply art to commercial projects. From brochures and packaging to logos and Web sites, this program focuses on the principles of solid design and visual communication through real-life projects encountered every day in the world of commercial art. NOTE: Students will need to purchase basic art materials and must have access to a computer/internet and have a layout or image program (call for details). Average readiness level: Age 14 and up (see policies for more age information)
STORY BOARDING: Story boards are the road maps for every major film, television show, music video and commercial. They visually interpret the script and capture the intention of the director. Learn how to apply your skills to this fascinating art form. NOTE: Students will need to purchase basic art materials. Although it is not a requirement, access to a computer/internet and a layout or image program will prove helpful (call for details). Average readiness level: Age 14 and up (see policies for more age information)
PORTFOLIO PREP: Designed to guide aspiring artists who are ready to assemble (or improve upon) their portfolios for college entrance or in order to land their first job as an artist. This program will help guide students toward the best representation of their work, highlighting strengths while minimizing weaknesses. Average readiness level: Age 16 and up (see policies for more age information)
